spent my entire day in metro manila starting off in madrigal business park, muntinlupa to drop off some items to my friend, then to cs lib, up diliman to return the three books i loaned which i productively read for my comprehensive exam review. then by 11am, i was at the ayala center makati to look a getting-away present for my swedish friend who's leaving tuesday. i visited several art galleries, and finally decided to give something light and memorable (i failed to get him a copy of an outstanding filipino film, had oro plata mata by peque gallaga in my mind, instead settled for an anthology of philippine movie theme songs in violin) . he's been here for the past six months doing his thesis on film history, which his topic was the father of philippine cinema (nepomuceno?). i'd be meeting him at gateway mall to have a late lunch by three. arrived gateway at around two, lounged cafe havanna for a mojito, after got a skipping rope. then at 330 we had a chinese lunch together (chelly, skipped thee lunch to book a flight for bangkok at a travel agent located in west ave. at around 5, when chelly returned we headed of to the mowelfund film institute, near betty go belmonte. he introduced us to the director of mowel (prof. nick deocampo) then proceeded right away to the museum now at for a private tour. by seven we had our last goodbyes, and now i was to head back to makati to have dinner with my bestfriends (now husband and wife). i met lei at the enterprise, then we were picked up by carlo to headed for dinner at powerplant mall. this is to celebrate with them for being now an offcial MSc candidate. we had a sumptuous meal of seafoods cooked in SE asian styles (crustasia), and a very good conversation, by 10 it was offcially called off a day. 11 pm i arrived home via bus caught up somewhere along the cloverleaf prior to its entry to the south expressway. truly i have touched bases with my friends, with this semi declared personal holiday, which in a way i skipped the lab meeting.

tuesday - morning, i got a meeting with sir tony, my committee chair to discuss updates while setting up experiments in between. i was given a new task in addition to my thesis to validate the screening of the transgenic papayas in our greenhouse. from there i started out my clones, and mixed some reagents and buffers for sterilization. it also marked day one of our skip roping so as to have aerobic activities during experiment waiting time intervals. i got the vpbb assignment btw, was a bit worried since the task in quite invading to privacy of the people u've just met.

wednesday - more expriments, and more jumping rope. i got an invitation from ged (my co-mbb coursemate) to semi hang out in the evening. had active emails and messages from vhms (inan on a serious discussion of a proposal, the ever friendly trish, and neil g... later with maam shiela, retchel and joPAX).

thursday - in the morning, i was in a sort of home leave, organized my data...i can not find the cd of my results that covered 6 months. early in the afternoon, i visited tita weng (the crop physiology expert trained in israel) to have a short discourse on SNAP hydrophonics, we toured the greenhouse and had a good chat and some photos. while doing clone preparation, inan called up, and i think this is the first ever voice recorded contact with a vhm. went out at five headed home straight to start with the report.

friday - the report has not been started until 4:00am since the cd i had encountered problems. but good thing i finished it by 9am, of which i had enough time catch up my shuttle at 10:30am, uplb.
i continued to finish making reagents as well as cleaned my clones ready for ligation, with having our normal snacks and lunch in between. i arrived early evening, passed by the hall, attended the wake of a constituent. then i was home eager to check mails from vhms.

saturday - early morning, i checked the community butterfly sanctuary of which i am the unofficial technical supervisor. had shots of new butterflies . picked up by my carpool courtesy of a friend for uplb by 830am. lab overtime in the morning for more reagent preparation. had lunch with labmates and friends, an ethipian friend visited the lab to ask help him plan regarding his birthday this coming 21st.he desired to have more meaningful celebration by being selfless. he wanted to celebrate it with the less fortunate children as his way of thanking us filipinos for adopting him in the last 8 or more years. we got the place and the program was drafted. was home at around 2:00 pm to rest, read newspapers which always reluctantly leave in the mornings when left unfinished. in the evening, we went to my aunt's house to celebrate her birthday together with other extended family members. the menu was good- home made pata tim, chicken and sweet and sour fish, and some chinese vegetables. by ten i was at home. had a chat with maam shiela... by 12 i had a scheduled talk with trish, but was sorry since i had i shuteye.

now sunday - still doing this, submitted my assignment to big bad kuya... later run my simulation programs for hairpin generation (technical)...more scheds coming up. just finished my breakfast of pandesal and cubes of parmesan cheese, durian candy and iced korean ginseng tea. hehehe

now i want ot share this picture which i got somewhere along the expressway entry. On my view it is the very suspense of non-expectation from these so-called "virtual people" who on a day to day basis, i discover that they neither lacked substance nor potential to improve this world in general. it is revealed to me that most of us agree to a common goal: we simply want to make a difference in our lives.

on the lighter side, the VPPB brings the simple joys of being human:

- on friendships, flirtations and the flowering of love...
- on conversations, conveyance and to transcedence...
- on relaxation, reflections and rebirth of the soul...

all contributory factors to the SIGNIFICANT HUMAN EXPERIENCE.

i stand for this game , because we participants have the power to transform the things from virtual trash to something more significant, a beacon of hope for one's self set to spread from one person to another.

alter ego:

should things be meaningless? or should we be the one to discover the meanings of things? better if we make these things meaningful. only we ourselves know where we stand.

a point of reflection.

what does this virtual PBB hope to achieve?

i have seen, felt , and tasted...

a plethora of beautiful minds,

a saturation of an opinion,

a discourse for action,

and the penultimate, to be an instrument in effectively changing the world for the better!

The Tangent Universe

and the ball gets rolling on the premises of:

"...and experiences that would make me see the world in a different perspective. as they say, there are parallel universes, but for me, it only takes a tangent to see the difference" (NHTG, 2005)

"So many people walk around with a meaningless life.
